Let's take a look at some vocabulary in this chapter.
First, on page 79, it says Megan "stifled an exclamation of pain." Using context, what did you think "stifled" meant?
Next, on page 80, it says, "Sandy was tremulous in his relief." Using context, what did you think "tremulous" meant?
Finally, on page 81, referring to the sounds Megan heard, it says, "Surreptitious ones that Megan figured out without getting alarmed again." Using context, what did you think "surreptitious" meant?
I think "Stifled" means covered, "Tremulous means thankful and "Surreptitous" means loud.

ReplyDeleteI think that stifled something like taking the pain scilently, Tremulous mean thankful and happy, and Surrepitious means loud.

surrepitious = afraid
