Chapter Twelve

When Jack and Praiseworthy return to Hangtown (pp. 127-129), it seems that Praiseworthy's reputation has continued to grow.  Why do you think that "every man in the diggings became hard of hearing when he wanted to" and "they preferred a tall tale to the facts?"

  1. His reputation has grown because alot of people heard about the time when he knocked the road agent up hill. They prefer to "tall tale the facts" so they can make a reputstion for Hangtown.

  7. It was because praiseworthy knocked the road agent up the hill. The miners thought that it was incredable.
