Chapter Nine

Near the end of this chapter, Livvie seems to get angry with Phil for getting her to help him pick out a Christmas gift for her mother.  Then she seems to feel sympathetic toward him when she learns about the vandalism to his car.  How do you think she can come to terms with this conflict inside herself?  How do you think she really feels about him?

I forgot to remind you...

Wow!  That was certainly a lot for Meagan to hear and absorb.  Instead of one specific question on this chapter, please share whatever it made you feel and think as you read and learned about Megan's family history.  Be sure to elaborate and be sure to also discuss how you think Megan should react to all of this.

Chapter Sixteen

Page 143: "Consternation swept over her mother's face, and she put out a hand to the rail beside the steps to steady herself, as if her legs might give way beneath her."

What do you think "consternation" means?
